SHOULDER CARE
Shoulder dislocation

A shoulder dislocation occurs when the ball comes out of its socket. Some shoulders continue to feel unstable or dislocate again. Assessment considers previous episodes, your activities and any damage to the supporting tissues or bone.
Treatment may include rehabilitation or an operation to improve stability. Dr Tu’s surgical options include arthroscopic stabilisation and the Latarjet procedure. The recommendation is tailored to the pattern of instability and your needs.
Recovery involves protecting the shoulder and gradually restoring movement and strength before returning to demanding work or sport.
